Mary Moore Otis, 93, took her heavenly flight on May 4, 2013, with two of her daughters being present. She was dearly loved by her family and blessed and highly favored of the Lord.
Born March 26, 1920, in Wilco, Mississippi, to Verdia Washington and Samuel Moore, she was an only child. After her marriage in 1939 to Clyde Otis, Sr (deceased) of Carson, Mississippi, they ended up moving north to Akron in 1944. Being an only child, she would often say to her eight children to "make friends out of your own brothers and sisters." Her retirement from Brecksville Veterans Hospital after 25 years of devoted service allowed her to even more so continue the activities she enjoyed - Bingo, casinos, Bingo, horse races, Bingo.. .and did I forget to mention Bingo?
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Roland Wright; daughters-in-law Florence Otis, Tanya Otis; grandsons Darnell Curry and Lewis Craig Otis; and great-grandsons Diamond Otis and Jywanza Wahi II.
Mary is survived by and will be forever missed by sons: Clyde (Maxine) Otis (Cincinnati), Roosevelt Otis and Seve Wahi I (Akron), Dadisi Wahi (Long Beach, CA); daughters: Virgie (Michael) France and Dorothy (Roland) Wright (Akron), Trisha Williams (Canton), Marie (Pastor Will) Robinson (Richmond Heights); grandsons: Clinton (Robbyn) Otis (Cincinnati), Clay (Nyiesha) Otis and Carlton Otis (Cincinnati), Ronald Otis (Mansfield), Preston (Von) Wright (Cleveland), Kamal Wright (Akron), Michael (Errika) Wynn and Lawrence Wynn (Akron), Carvan Roper and Larry Perry (North Carolina), Seve Wahi II and Jywanza (Tina) Wahi (Victorville, CA), Anthony Williams and Antwan Williams (Canton), Anthony Parnell and Diya Wahi (Los Angeles, CA), Marc (Bakara) Robinson (Cleveland), Steve (Jamie) Robinson (Cincinnati); granddaughters: Darlana Otis (Detroit, MI), Michelle Otis (Columbus), Tonya Otis (Akron), Kamara Wright-Campbell (Akron), Deandrea Wright (Arizona), Kim (Aryl) Shakur (New Jersey), Diona (Ricardo) Navarro (Los Angeles, CA), Kia (Wendell) McLaughlin (Nashville, TN); 64 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren.
