Mary Ellen
Collier
May 19, 2020 – June 4, 2020
Mary Ellen Collier, age 82, transitioned peacefully on June 4, 2020. Affectionately called Sister Collier, she was born May 19, 1938 in Siloan, Georgia to the late Fronie and Walter Collier. As a young girl her family moved to Canton, Ohio. Mary held various jobs in the community, one of them being the head cook at the House of Loreto for many years. Mary received Christ at an early age and truly loved the Lord. She began her walk with Christ being a member of Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Allen D. Miles, where she served faithfully. Later in life Mary heard a radio broadcast one Sunday night being held by the late Lee Charles Nucklos, preaching the Word of God. Which began Mary's spiritual calling of God. Sister Collier worked hand and hand with Elder Lee Nucklos. Mary hit the evangelism field where she held numerous revivals, teaching and preaching the Word of God. She went after souls, a willing worker. Sister Collier worked with Pastor Nucklos arranging numerous bus trips to New York City, Cleveland, Mansfield, and Warren just to name a few. Everyone loved to travel with Sister Collier, for she was known to love fried chicken and they were assured they were going to get some chicken if you traveled with her. Sister Collier started her own business in the 70's working with MRDD for over 38 years. Sister Collier never met a stranger, and has touched many, many lives. To know her is to love her.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters, Rosa Mullins, Eva Devore; brother, Walter T. Collier Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory (2) daughters, Aletha Collier Crockett, Lora Collier; (2) sons, Robert Collier (Marge), Marcelino Teixeria (Mark); (2) special granddaughters whom she helped raise, Deonna Collier Johnson, Mylika Teixeira; (2) sisters, Frances Mack, Annette Collier Richardson; canine companion, Cutie; special daughter, Shimika Wright; (35) grandchildren, (22) great grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.
