Mary E. Jones was born on February 25, 1924, to the late Bowmar and Alnetter Jackson in Versailles, Kentucky.
Mary graduated from Simmons High School in Versailles, Kentucky and she took a few college courses at the University of Akron. Mary was on the prayer board for 12 years; she served on the deaconess board and was one of the first founders of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Mary served on the Missionary Society and was on the Mother's Board, teaching many young ladies. Mary was always talking about the many girls that came into her life and was a blessing unto her. Mary would like to say thank you and I love you to all of you girls.
Mary has many gifts, and she was never a stranger to anyone she met. Mary is also known for touching many lives. As she was well in her 80s, she never stopped visiting the nursing homes and hospitals, where she would feed and care for many. She is also known as the Crochet Lady and the traveling prayer poem.
Mary E. Jones is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her two loving children, daughter, Cheryl E. Fowler and son, Lawrence W. Jones; many grandchildren, great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
