Marvella
Jackson
February 7, 1950 – May 31, 2016
On Tuesday, May 31, 2016, Marvella Jackson transitioned to her heavenly resting place. Marvella, age 66, was born February 7, 1950 to the late Marvel and Burnell Kelly. She was the youngest of three daughters. A life-long resident of Canton, Marvella was educated in Canton public schools and was a graduate of McKinley High School. She met her husband Henry Jackson in the early 70's and the two became one in 1978. Her devotion, obedience, sacrifices, and commitment to the vows of marriage and unconditional love for her husband and children will always remain a memory to all those that knew her and understand how important her family was to her. Marvella was employed by the Canton City School system as a teacher's assistant and tutor in an after school program at Gibbs and Washington Elementary schools. It was there that her passion was obvious, simply put her ultimate love of children. She spent countless hours providing loving, dependable and caring childcare in her home to many. When she was surrounded by children she had a sparkle in her eye, full of laughter, she was joyful and happy. Marvella loved camping with family and friends, cooking and taking long trip in the family RV. She acknowledged and accepted Christ at a young age and was fellowshipped into the Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W.C. Henderson. A loyal and dedicated member, singing in the choir, willingly and faithfully serving wherever needed. Marvella was soft spoken but firm in her beliefs and convictions. Her friendly personality, genuine kindness and caring spirit was embraced and appreciated by many. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter Dorothy Chastin; sister Barbara Ann Turner; brothers-in-law, James Williams and Robert Pearson. Marvella's love and legacy will continue through her husband of 38 years Henry Jackson; sons, Eric (Stacy) Kelly of Canton, Oh., Marvel "Snoop" (Jerrisha) Jackson of Massillon, Oh., Brian Hughes of Canton, Oh.; (4) grandchildren that were dear to her heart, (1) great-granddaughter; (1) sister, Gwendolyn Kelly of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Ida Williams, Ollie Pearson; brother-in-law, James (Lee Nora) Smith and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Completion of Marvella's journey in this life now begins her present life with the Lord. We are forever thankful to God that she may enjoy eternal life. Let Us Rejoice!
