Marva J
Barnes
October 9, 1943 – July 1, 2025
Marva J. Barnes of Akron, Ohio was rejoined with her daughter Wendy Barnes on July 1, 2025.
Marva was born on October 9, 1943, to the late Cornelius and Jesse Kate (Katie) Barnes.
They later moved to Akron where she attended and graduated from Akron North High School in 1961. As a young adult, she was employed at Scotts Five and Ten store, Goodyear, and Holiday Inn. She began working at Chrysler in 1977, where she would retire after 30 years of service in 2007.
She spent her early retirement years spoiling her two granddaughters by taking them to the park, shopping at the local malls and stores, and just letting them both run rampart throughout her home.
Her hobbies included working on puzzles, playing dominos, and Uno.
Following a medical procedure in 2013, she became paralyzed and would never walk again.
This would change the rest of our lives FOREVER, but Marva was determined to enjoy the rest of her life.
She loved listening to music (very loudly), cookouts with family and friends, concerts in the park, and playing with her great grandson Santana.
Now she is running, jumping, smiling, and talking loud, listening to her music in the Smooth Jazz Section on a white fluffy cloud with her daughter Wendy.
Marva was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Barnes Sr.; daughter, Wendy.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her devoted and caring daughter, Danielle Y.. Barnes of Akron, Ohio; granddaughters, Island (Antwan) Barnes, and Imari Barnes McKoy, all of Akron, Ohio; her only great grandson, Santana Hampton, also of Akron, Ohio; niece, Rojan Barnes of Cleveland, Ohio; nephew, Robert Barnes Jr. of Akron, Ohio; special cousins, the Cox family; best friends, Margaret Collins and Gwen Ware, both of Akron Ohio, and a host of other family and friends.
