Martha G. (Pope) Bryant, age 81, departed this life on June 7, 2023 at the Laurels of Massillon.  She was born on January 13, 1942 in Rienzi, Mississippi to the late Lucille (Gilmer) and Eugene Pope.

Martha attended Washington High School and graduated from Massillon Beauty School to become a licensed beautician for many years.  She also worked at Timken Roller Bearing Co., and Massillon City Schools.  She was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Church.

On May 10, 1965, she married the love of her life, Onice E. Bryant, Sr., and they were married 50 years until the time of his death.  She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved to make everyone smile.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Lucille and Eugene Pope; sisters, Shirley Pope, Norma (Pope) Davenport, Virginia (Pope) Stovall, Vicki Pope, Bessie (Pope) Moore and Reba Pope; brothers, Thomas Pope, Phillip Pope and Robert Pope.

She is survived by her four children, Tonja Pope-Turner of Massillon, Ohio, Onice Bryant Jr., Robert Bryant and Raven (Robert) Burns, all of Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brittny (Errick) McCollum, Justin "JT" Turner, Anthony Burns and Robert Burns, III; five great-grandchildren, Jai and Natalija Turner, Letty Pribich, Legend, III and Journee McCollum; siblings, Margaret Pope of Massillon, Ohio, Malcom (Vicki) Pope of Akron, Ohio; sister in law, Eleanor Bryant-Preston and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
