Marcus W.
Cooper
August 17, 1945 – October 20, 2025
Marcus Cooper, affectionately known as Mark, passed away peacefully in Akron, OH on October 20, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born August 17, 1945, in Ravenna, OH and was the proud son of Carll and Florence Cooper. Marcus had simple pleasures in life. He loved his family, his friends, watching a good western, and fishing. He met his wife, Mary, and raised five beautiful children together. When Mark wasn't focused on his passions, he was working at his two, sometimes three jobs. In his early days he drove trucks and also spent over four decades in janitorial services, eventually retiring from the federal reserve. Many of those 40 years spent working side by side with his wife or supervising his children, grandchildren, and even his siblings. Until the very end, Mark was strong, compassionate, and supportive of all those he loved. He was a simple, but powerful man who never met an obstacle he did not face head-on with his shoulders back, head held high, and no concern for judgement of his decisions. Even with all that strength and through all of life's challenges, he was still a humble and gentle soul. All he ever asked for was peace and he now has that with the love of his life for all of eternity. Marcus is preceded in death by his parents, Carll and Florence Cooper, wife Mary Cooper, daughter Marcie Cooper, sons Marcus Cooper Jr. and Carlton Cooper, granddaughter Carla Ogletree, great-grandson Loren Bell Jr., brothers Howard Cooper, Clyde Cooper, and Virgil Cooper, sisters Lynda Cooper, Claudine Brazile, and Cheryl Cooper. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Patrice Rice, son Joenathan Speer, grandchildren Twila Stokes, Patrice Rice Jr. Melissa Smith, Latara Warren, Laquetta Speer, Joenathan Speer Jr., and Leondis Knox, uncle Madison "Buck" Davis, brothers Carll Cooper Jr., Curtis Cooper, William Wade, sisters Catherine Kennibrew, Crystal Watson, Chandra Taylor, and Carmella Wade, and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
