Maetroy Veal, 84, was called home to be with the Lord on June 6,2024. She was born on Aug 22, 1939 to Detroy and Gracie Carruthers and grew up in Akron attending South H.S. When she met and married the love of her life William Veal.

Maetroy enjoyed doing hair for family and friends in her home. She eventually went back to school to become a licensed beautician and opened her own business. Later she retired from Firestone HS as a cafeteria cook.

Maetroy (Bunk) was always a family-oriented person, hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas family dinners and picnics. Bunk and William were always ready to travel, Browns games, state track meets, bowling tournaments, casinos and vacations. She was a long-time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church up until her health started to fail.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Maezella Tipton and Dixie Wilson; brothers Floyd, Roy and Detroy Jr; husband William; sons Murie and Ricky Veal.

To cherish her memory and legacy Maetroy leaves behind her loving son William Jr; daughter Lynitta; grandson and caregiver Jermaine Veal; and sister Joydie Kidd (Earl); and other relatives and friends.
