Obituary

The Life Journey of Lucy Mae Sanders Smith. With a heart of gold and a voice from Heaven, Lucy was called from labor to rest on September 9, 2015. She was born May 1, 1942 in Forkland, Alabama. At the age of 10, the family moved to Canton, where she became noted for her classy dressing, style and personality. Her singing was a gift from God, whom she loved and would sing in choirs, groups, leading solos and her greatest of all, singing duo with her late husband. Lucy would sing Gods praises until the Spirit would be ushered in. She loved cooking, dancing, entertaining and being herself. Lucy retired after many years from the Canton Repository and became a foster parent. She raised so many and they still kept in touch because of the good home and upbringing they had with her and her husband. Lucy is preceded in death by her father Ulysses Sanders and her husband Rev. Lenon Smith. She leaves to cherish her loving memory the Love of her life, her mother, Mrs. Carrie Mae Sanders whom she adored and made sure she was just as stylish as her; son, Lenon Smith, Jr.; nephew (raised as a son) Jamey(Toya) Sanders; daughter, Chamia McFarland; brother, Joe Sanders; nieces, Veronica (Joe) Singleton, Kracia D. Williams (David) Taylor; nephews, Joey and Troy Sanders of Texas; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
