LOUISE MITCHELL

Louise Mitchell, affectionately called Momma-Lou, went peacefully to her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family on October 8, 2026 at the age of 99.

Louise Mitchell was born September 7, 1927 to the late Floyd and Ollie Mae Traylor in Ozark, Alabama. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church in Clopton, Alabama. She was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church until her health began to fail, later changing her membership to Mt. Olive Baptist Church. If you needed a prayer, mom would drop what she was doing and pray for you. She was definitely a prayer warrior.

Momma-Lou enjoyed cooking for the family and everyone else that stopped by. She especially enjoyed the holidays where the family always gathered for her large spread of southern food. Caring for the family was Momma-Lou’s priority. She adored her immediate and extended family. Her favorite past time was fishing. She would leave at 6 a.m. and return just before dark. Mom played basketball when she was younger, and loved watching all sports, especially the fishing channel on television.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ransom Mitchell; 5 brothers; Willie, Ned, Elba, Robert & Zeke. She leaves to mourn her memories; sister, Gladys Parrish (Windsor, CT); daughters; Arlinda Mitchell, Annie (Rogers) Clark; sons Ramsey (Cindy) Mitchell and Gary Mitchell all of Akron. 7 grandchildrens; 16 great-grandchildrens; 5 great-great grandchildrens and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
