Lorene "Ween"
Watson
February 9, 1933 – October 6, 2023
Lorene Watson, affectionately known as "Ween" was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 9, 1933, to the late Theodore and Ruby Becton. At the age of 90 she made her peaceful transition to her heavenly home on October 6, 2023, surrounded by family.
Ween was a well-known beautician for over 48 years and was the proud owner of Turning Heads Beauty Salon in South Akron. She raised six children with love, understanding and patience. She also extended that love to neighborhood children who affectionately called her mom; being that she would treat them like her own. She loved doing hair and going to hair conventions with her sisters who were also beauticians and members of The Glamourette's Hair Club. Her family was her number one priority. She especially enjoyed supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events. She was their best cheerleader. She loved making sure everyone had a good home cooked southern meal. She was known for baking the best German Chocolate Cake and Apple Pie (SO GOOD). She handed out a lot of good wisdom and advise. She had lots of sayings (some of which cannot be repeated at this time) but will be remembered and passed on. Her children use to enjoy sitting around, listening and laughing to stories of her growing up, however, the main thing she would want us all to remember at the end of the day, WE ARE FAMILY!
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Luther Watson Jr. son; Andre Watson, parents; Theodore and Ruby, sisters; Dorothy, Mae and Frances, brothers; Tommy, Edward and Theodore Jr.
Lorene leaves to cherish her memory, children; Clifford (Alice) Watson, Bramlette (Marvin) Clopton, Robbie Jones, Leonard (Denise) Watson, Jacqueline (Turner) Bryant Jr. and Shelbi Watson, a granddaughter whom she raised, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters: Esther (Charles) Eaves and Doris Ruple and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
