Lois H. Mills' Obituary

Lois Heath Mills, aged 89, of Spring, Texas, transitioned on May 3, 2024.

Lois Heath was born to Alvin Oscar and Mamie Heath on August 18th, 1934, in Akron, Ohio. She attended Akron Public Schools, graduating from West High School in 1952. Upon graduation, she studied at Hammel Business College. She also took courses at the University of Akron, and she completed theology courses through ACOC to serve as an evangelist and missionary.

Lois always exhibited a strong work ethic, starting at the age of 9 working in the family-owned restaurant. She had to stand on top of a box in order to reach the cash register! As she got older, it wasn't uncommon for her to work more than one job at a time. Some of her jobs included a legal secretary for Attorney Spruill, and Attorneys Parms & Williams, a bookkeeper, a steward for the union, and she worked for the State of Ohio. She also worked for a combined 25 years for United Rubber Workers (URW) and United Steel Workers (USW). After retiring from the USW, she relocated to Spring, TX, and worked for Cypress Creek Hospital as a bookkeeper. She set an example of hard work and always acknowledged God's provision in her life, frequently reminding others that "If there were only two jobs in the world, one of them would be mine."

Not only did she serve faithfully in corporate America, she was a faithful servant in the house of the Lord. She was a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, director of Vacation Bible School, youth director, choir director, missionary, prayer warrior, and usher. She also held office at the state level within Bibleway Worldwide. She was also a member of a singing group with some of her cousins including Irvin, Marlene "Tiny," and Billy. She was an avid reader and a gifted writer. This gift was highlighted by her ability to type extremely fast and to write using beautiful shorthand with either hand. Some of her work included poems, plays, and prose. One of her desires was to share knowledge and see others gain wisdom.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie and Alvin Oscar Heath, stepfather, Willie Harris Robinson Sr., husband, Joe Mills, infant brother, Alvin Jr., brother, Harland Clifford, sister, Gloria Dean, and nephew, Harland Jr.

She is survived by her brother, Will Robinson Jr. (Marie), brother-in-law, Calvin Wells, sons, Reginald Heath Sr. (Deborah) and Michael Heath, daughters, Adrienne Livingston (Michael), and Gloria White (Marcus), and stepdaughter, Stephanie Mills. Her grandchildren are Reginald Heath Jr., Lisa Heath, Andrea Heath, Timothy Heath, Krystal Heath, Dawn Porter, Michael Livingston (Shawanda), Jorrell Livingston (Kelly), Franklin White, and India White. Her great-grandchildren are Alexis Torrence, Jada Porter, Blake Sammons, Holly Sammons, Warren Walker, Shawn Livingston, Joshua Livingston, and Shia Mathis-White. She is also survived by her special niece, Karen Elliot Phillips, Goddaughter, Lynn Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family members, and many special friends. She touched the lives of so many, there is no way we could name each one.
