Obituary

Lionel is a 300 month old veteran of the comedy stage who has his roots right here in Northeastern Ohio. With a style that many have compared to Sinbad, everyone loves Lionel's clean and funny comedy. Who would ever thought that a pastry chef would eventually have the opportunity to open for such legendary performers as the Temptations and Kool and the Gang.  You have seen Lionel on television during his appearance on BET's "Live at the Apollo" and at many comedy clubs including The Funny Stop. His performances and quick humor has rocked audiences in Akron and surrounding areas. Lionel is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Minister Cora Mae Hamilton and his nephew, Vernard L. Hamilton. He is survived by his sons, Lionel S. Hamilton and Lyndon S. Hamilton and the mother of his children Rosalyn Haines-Berger. He is also survived by his brothers, Lindsay Hamilton and Ervin Hamilton, all of Akron; sisters, Edith Holmes of Kannopolis, N.C., Katherine Rudloph of Kannopolis, N.C., Jacqueline Baxter, Joyce (Cleven) Maye, Jennifer (William) Hullum, Mavis Hamilton, Marveline Young, all of Akron. His grandchildren, LaShay Hamilton, Lyndon Hamilton Jr., La'Nia Hamilton, along with a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, friends, and fans who adored him. Lionel will greatly miss his Classic 1975 Mercury Marquis.
