Leslie A.
Washington
January 10, 1948 – March 3, 2025
Leslie Ann Washington (Née Morek) passed away after a short illness on March 1, 2025. She was born the only child of Paul Zedick and Margaret Yecs on January 10, 1948 in Akron Ohio. She graduated from Buchtel High School in 1966 and went to Kent State University for three years majoring in Journalism, and English. She became a boxing judge in 1982 because her husband Frank was a coach and they traveled to events everywhere. She was very active in youth activities. She was the first female judge in the USA Golden Gloves Boxing. Leslie became the only female to be inducted into the boxing Hall of Fame.
she was also very active in the Pee-wee Association, becoming the Director of the Northwest Hawks and started at bingo hall to raise money to keep cost down for our youth. With anything and everything she was a part of she gave 150% of her self to it.
She married the love of her life on September 9, 1979 and they enjoyed many challenges, including the love of fishing and hunting. If you saw one you saw the other, a true love story.
When her husband became ill, she took time off to care for him. After his passing, she came back, not only as a judge, but also as a registration chair, and chief of officials. As she would say, being, with a bunch of old friends, and a bunch of new friends, saved her life and sanity.
Proceeding her in death, the absolute love of her life, Frank, Mother, Margaret and father, Paul, her grandmother that raised her and wore her out with wooden spoons Esther Petrick, sons, Christopher Petrick, and Marvin Washington, daughters, Delores, Washington and Raemonique Carlisle; Clifford and Annette Cooke; and Brenda White.
Family surviving is the only person on her mother's side, Helen Petrick; sons, Frank Washington and Hurley Washington; and sister-in-law, Juanda Washington.
Matthew Petrick, daughters, Sheila Alexander, August, Harris, also, her nephew, Robert M, (Dianne)Campbell, that took care and helped in every way, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews special friends Belinda Clark, Ben and Leslie Rochester and the USA Boxing Golden Glove and the Lake Erie Boxing Association family.
