Lately
Johnson
March 9, 1926 – January 7, 2022
Her Grace Mother Lately Johnson Mother Johnson (as she was affectionately called) was born Lately King to Sam Vance and Mamie King in Cordele, Georgia on March 9, 1926. Lately married Carl Miller Sr. on November15, 1941 and to this union were born five sons: Willie, Carl Jr., Bob, Terry, and David. After Carl Sr. transition, Lately united in holy Matrimony to Silas Johnson Jr. on September 24, 1966 and to this union were born two children Philip and Kathy. The couple resided in Barberton, Ohio where Silas and Lately raised their seven children in the faith and loved them unconditionally. Lately, held many jobs in the secular arena including: Barberton City Schools, Barberton Hospital and a Barberton Nursing Home as a House Keeper. Eventually the couple opted for Lately to make a decision that would be in the best interest of their family and Lately became a full time housewife and stay at home mom. Lately was an active member of the Churches of God in Christ where she served faithfully until she and Silas birthed the work assigned to their hands, Bible Temple Church of Prophecy. This move would prove to impact the greater Akron community as a whole. The ministry progressed, and continued its growth at its current location 1325 East Avenue in Akron, Ohio. Over the years, countless lives have been touched, healed and delivered. Many ministries were birthed through the couples powerful anointing. Lately began hosting noon day prayer services on Wednesdays and Fridays which were so powerful that they ultimately turned into midweek deliverance services. As Lately yielded to the leading of the Lord, training, cultivating, molding, and equipping future leaders in the faith. Lately was not only a prayer warrior, but an evangelist who traveled and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ. During a powerful move of God, Bible Temple Church of Prophecy was elevated and granted its new and current name in 2004 "Living for Christ Ministries, Inc." Though heartbroken after her husband's elevation to glory on February 5, 2018, she journeyed on carrying the visionary torch handed to her by the late Bishop Silas Johnson and led the congregation as their senior pastor until taking her final rest. (1) Online Obituary pg.1 of 2 Please use the photographs on page 1 for Legacy website Pastor Lately Johnson Pastor Johnson operated in prophetic realms and when she'd say…I'm going to move, I'm going to move saith GOD" a peace would flood your soul and you knew that EVERYTHING was going to be alright! Pastor Johnson had a heart of gold and operated in the gift of helps and lending a hand to anyone in need. Pastor Johnson was the epitome of a yielded vessel who continually submitted to the will of the Lord without question. She embodied the essence of biblical matriarchs and modeled her life accordingly. Lately followed the lead of her Silas in faith like Sarah who followed the lead of her Abraham; just as Naomi cared for Ruth so did Lately care for her mother in law Ithelene Johnson until her transition in 2010. A modern day Esther Lately was a woman clothed with righteousness and truth and was used to save the lives of God's people. Lately was a regal Queen anointed to pray and spread God's love to anyone she met. She was a SHEPHERDESS who led with compassion, wisdom, and faith. She was VIRTUOUS, modest and kind. Her reputation of excellence and class preceded her. Mother, Prophetess, Evangelist, Pastor Johnson was a living epistle read by many men. On Friday January 7, 2022, after 95 years the world suffered a tremendous loss. Lately lifted her hands and prayed the night away resting peacefully as she slept into eternity. Lately was loved by many and will be missed by all. Left to cherish the treasure of her many words of wisdom and love are her children: Willie, Carl Jr., Bob, Terry, David, Philip, and Kathy (care giver) and Samuel Bennett. Special nieces and nephews: Cora, Junior, Valencia, and Tessie of Georgia. 35 Grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and The Living for Christ Ministries Church Family.
