"LOMIE"

The world became a better place on April 29, 1950, when God blessed the late Mamie Stembridge with a beautiful son, Lamonte. Affectionately known as "Lomie', he was 'one-of-a-kind'. The first-born son of fourteen children. He was one of Good Year's first African American machinist, a fashion trendsetter, and very charismatic! He was a Muliple Myeloma Cancer survivor who beat the odds to live nine years after diagnosis.

Lamonte graduated South High School and was described as tenacious and driven. He was an exceptional student who learned to balanced school and domestic responsibilities well. Lamonte was such a math and science wiz that he was known to complete his older sister's homework and projects with straight A's!

To know Lamonte was to know that he LOVED: get-togethers, stylish hats, great books, bid wiz, meditating, gardening, his children (whom he adored), his siblings (to whom he was extremely close), his nieces and nephews, and his grand/great-grand babies (who simply made his days). To our dad, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend - we're already missing you and you'll always be in our hearts!

Lamonte was preceded in death by sisters: Sharletta (Poochie), Elaine, Beatrice; brother: Gary. He leaves to cherish his memory: children Layvette Stembridge, Wanda Little, Lamonte (Tenell) Griffin, Lamal Griffin and LaQueeta (Devin) Tyler; by sisters: Evelyn, Brenda, Carolyn, Celia (Steven); brothers: Willie (Skipper), Bennie, Kenny, Ralph, Anton, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-granchildren and a host of family and friends.
