Obituary

Kerby Brown was born on March 18, 1970, in Akron, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the age of 56, following a long battle with chronic respiratory illness and complications form a workplace injury.

Kerby attended Garfield High School, where he began developing his dream of becoming an entrepreneur. He pursued that dream by working in his family's business and later becoming a certified diesel mechanic and welder. Throughout his career, he worked with companies such as Polymeric, Enviro-Serve, and Waste Management. Even after sustaining a life-altering work injury, Kerby remained determined and resilient. He firmly believed that failure was never an option and carried himself with unwavering drive, purpose, and strength.

Throughout his life, Kerby face countless challenges and near-death experiences, yet he continued to defy the odds. He had a remarkable ability to turn vision into reality, regardless of what others believed. He later went on to start his own business, KSW Auto Transportation, a testament to his ambition and perseverance. Despite ongoing health struggles, Kerby remained proud of his accomplishments. His greatest joy in life was his daughter and grandchildren, whom he loved beyond words and supported with unwavering devotion. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's football and basketball games, always present with quiet strength and unconditional love.

Kerby was a proud member of the Zulus and was often seen on a motorcycle. Whether riding his Suzuki while perfecting new stunts or simply enjoying the open road, he embraced the thrill of the ride and lived with a bold, adventurous spirit. He could also be seen cruising on his Harley-Davidson with his oxygen tank, fearlessly enjoying life on his own terms. Kerby was known for his generosity and willingness to help others. Whether offering advice, opening his home, or providing support when he could, he was always there for those around him.

Kerby was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jessie (Joanna) Brown, Catherine Dancy; sister, Barbara Culver; brother, Herbert Brown Jr.; nephew, Jimmy Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Herbert and Ollie Brown; devoted daughter, Morley "Nikki" Brown (John-John); son, Bradley Cumbaa; grandsons, Rodney Boyd Jr., King August Brown, Kayden Cumbaa, Kamron Cumbaa, Nate Feudeman; granddaughters, Ra'niah Boyyd, Ja'onnie Morlet Merrit, and Za'riah Royalty Merritt. He also leaves behind his brother, Ervin Brown; sisters, Carla (Terry) Thomas and Andrea Brow; nieces and nephews, Tamara (Westley) Jacobs, Helton II, Alexis Culver, Alan Culver, Ty Curley, Richard Curley II, Desmond Boatright, Jeffery Boatright, Desmond Burley, Tyvetta Brown, Terrel (Kristy) Thomas, and Maurice Jefferson.
