Karen Jean
Bazen
February 26, 1960 – September 9, 2024
Memories of a Beautiful Life
Karen was born in Canton, Ohio on February 25,1960 to Willie and Omijean Bazen, who preceded her in death She could be found, at any given time, taking care of loved ones and friends as well as spreading joy. Karen lived a life of pleasing her Heavenly Father rather than receiving personal recognition or praise. Karen displayed a work ethic of dedication, diligence, reliability, and integrity. She could be counted on to be on post even during times when she was not at her best physically. She was employed by Stark County Human Services as a caseworker for numerous years; and a customer service representative at Walmart. Her assignment at Christ Centered Church is indescribable. She was a blessing to the ministry and her absence will be missed. She started with the West Campus of Christ Centered Church at their genesis; and she worked tirelessly until her departure and arrival in glory. At Christ Centered Church, she handled everything, including the bishop, the pastor, and the entire congregation. The number of people that she assisted could never be counted because she would do it in silence. She wouldn't receive words like, No; don't worry about it; someone else will handle it; or someone else can do that. Karen insisted that things be handled BY HER – it was her way and on her terms. Not only was Karen known for working in the secular world and serving at church, but she was also known for her infamous pound cakes, seven-layer salads and coney sauce.
The Legacy Lives On…
Karen had an overwhelming love and passion for youth. She was the cornerstone for the youth during her tenure as Youth Director at the Antioch Baptist Church. She unselfishly took time to not only drive the van to pick them up for various outings; but made sure that they had an opportunity to indulge in trips to amusement parks, concerts and overnight youth events. She imparted wisdom and showcased a way of life that continues to be emulated by those whom she touched. Karen leaves to cherish her memories, her brother, Keith Bazen and his wife Fallon; sister, Kimberly Bazen; god-daughter, Jacquetta Gray-Brown; special cousin, Vernelda Brown; Christ Centered Church family; youth that were under her leadership at Antioch Baptist Church; nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and other family members. In the words from her pastor, "Karen was a constant, walking, working, and illuminated billboard of what a SERVANT is. FAITHFUL SERVANT, JOB WELL DONE!"
