Judy Powers' Obituary

Judy Love-Powers, 68, transitioned to her heavenly home on the evening of Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

She was born in Barberton, OH on January 15, 1956, to the late Frank Love, Sr. and Juanita (Love) Vaughn.

Judy was a proud graduate of Barberton High School and furthered her education at The University of Akron, where she cultivated her passion for learning and personal growth.

She embarked on a remarkable career at FirstEnergy, where she thrived in various roles, earning numerous leadership and training certificates. Her unwavering dedication spanned 40 years of committed service. Judy was also a cherished member of the FirstEnergy Women's Club.

A devoted prayer warrior, Judy's deep love for the Lord was evident in her life. She was baptized at Livingstone Baptist Church and later became a beloved member of the First Apostolic Faith Church, where she faithfully served on the Usher Board.

Judy took great pride in her home and garden, reflecting her love for beauty and tranquility. Her efforts were recognized with the Akron Beautification Award for four consecutive years. She found endless inspiration from her favorite channel, Home and Garden, always seeking new ideas for home improvement.

Judy's vibrant spirit shone through in her love for dancing and her enthusiastic participation in community events. Her joyful presence was a staple at social gatherings, where she embraced every opportunity to connect with others. Judy cherished her family deeply, and her heart was always fullest when surrounded by loved ones at family functions. Her legacy of love, laughter, and lively engagement with the world around her will forever be remembered.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita (Love) Vaughn and Frank Love, Sr.; brother, Larry Love; nephew Demetrius T'Juan Butler.

She leaves to cherish her memory, husband Steve Powers. In her first marriage to Micheal (Angie) Burley, she was blessed with the precious gift of a loving, devoted daughter, Rachelle Burley; Beloved sister, Juanita Butler, affectionately known as 'Baby Sister'; brothers, Frank (Rita) Love, Jr. and Eddie Joe "Romeo" Love.  She leaves behind a legacy in her three cherished grandchildren, Brielle, Jaida, and Shynin, and a beloved great-grandchild, Jerome, affectionately known as 3J or Mooks. Stepmother, Annie Love; brother, Anthony Lovelace and sister, Wanda Love along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Home. Reverend Marcus Lowe eulogizing.
