Adams
December 8, 1944 – November 4, 2024
Lady Judy Adams Sullivan was born on December 8, 1944, and peacefully entered eternal rest on the morning of November 4, 2024. Raised in Lexington, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of the late Ella Lee McDowell and Henry Fowler. She was preceded in death by her son, Wilbert Adams Jr., and her husband, Donald Sullivan. Lady Sullivan leaves behind her beloved sister, Elizabeth 'Missie" Ingram of Akron, Ohio, her loving granddaughter Wiletta Kay Young, and great-grandson Lawrence Young of Lexington, KY. They along with countless others, will continue to continue to celebrate her life and legacy.
Lady Sullivan devoted her life to God, serving Him faithfully until the day she was called home. She loved sharing the Word and teaching others the truth of the scriptures, often reminding us, "The Word is the Word." She had no tolerance for foolishness and nonsense, staying true to her beliefs and principles. A dedicated servant of God, she held various roles within her church community. In August 1978, she was licensed as a minister by The House of God—The Holy Church of the Living God, The Pillar and Ground of the Truth, The House of Prayer for All People, Inc.—a mission she fulfilled wholeheartedly, spreading the gospel with love and conviction.
Lady Sullivan lived a life of compassion and care, always ready to serve those around her. She worked for many years as a nurse in a local hospital and later provided private care, sharing her kindness and devotion with each patient she served. She was also a dedicated teacher. Later in life, her nurturing spirit led her to open her heart and home as a foster mother providing a safe, loving environment for countless children in need. Among her foster children, she adopted three sisters who became her cherished daughters: Queena (Antonio) Justo and their children, Adriona and Antonio Justo Jr., Keema Adams and her daughter, Avajolie Adams; Yahieish Adams and her son, Landon Adams; all from Lexington, Kentucky.
Lady Sullivan's generosity knew no bounds. When her family needed her, she welcomed her two grandchildren into her home, raising them with unwavering love and guidance. Her granddaughter, Jontesja Perkins, and great-granddaughter, Ja'Kayla Perkins, along with her grandson, Donte Perkins, will forever treasure the memory of her unconditional love.
In the last three years of her life, Judy resided in Ohio, surrounded by the devoted care of her sister Missie, nieces and nephew. She was dearly loved by her nieces Pamela (Timothy) Wilkes of Tallmadge, OH; Donnisa (James 'Quinn') Simpson of Akron, OH; and Pattie (John) Campbell of Richfield, OH, as well as her nephew, Ralph (Chen) Maupin Jr. of Atlanta, GA. She shared a particularly close bond with Pattie and her family, who welcomed her into their home and lovingly cared for her during some of her final years.
Lady Sullivan was a beacon of love, faith, and kindness to her family, church community, and friends. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
