Joyce Caldwell, 69, received her wings on September 11, 2021 after a long illness. She was born December 13, 1952 in Akron, Ohio where she grew up, married and became a military wife with two children.

Afterwards, she became a resident of Maryland for 20 years where she worked various jobs from a school librarian to a  social worker and still finding time to earn her Bachelor's degree from Sojourner Truth College in Baltimore, Maryland. She also earned a degree in theology and mastered sign language as a second language.

Joyce grew up in the church and was a faithful member of Burning Bush Church where she taught Sunday school and earned the title Mother Joyce, which was very fitting name because she would go above and beyond to nurture and raise children.

She is now at peace and reunited with her husband, Henry and grandparents, Mary and Lafonia "Benny" Gray.

Joyce is survived by her mother, Eva Gray; daughter, Eva Caldwell (Derrick Seals); son, Henry (Pam) Caldwell; sister, Marion Gray (George); brothers, Willie (Cassandra), Johnny (lLil), Ronnie /Clarence (Darlene), Tony (Sherie) Gray; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

We would also like to acknowledge her church family, the congregation and ministers at Burning Bush church and her devoted friend Mother Cindra Hubbard for their support and prayers.
