Josephine Williams was born in Covington, Georgia in 1943. At a very young age, she moved from Covington, Georgia to Canton, Ohio; where she would create a prosperous life. After graduating from McKinley Senior High School in 1960. Josephine went on to work at the Timken Company where she eventually met the love of her life, Deacon Samuel L. Williams. Sam and Jo married in 1968 and remained happily married for 47 years. During that union, they brought into the world 3 children; Kracia Williams (David Taylor), Samuel Williams (Leverta Williams), and Ashonda Trice (Robert Trice). Who combined would bring to them eight grandchildren; YoSha Wesley, Brittany Riley, YoShawn Williams, Courtney Williams, Ashley Williams, Dominique Williams, Amani Trice, YoShawnda Williams and a great grandson, YoShawn Williams Jr. Family was a top priority in the Williams' household, and during their time together, Sam and Jo spread love and joy and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Josephine was first introduced to Jerusalem Baptist Church by her Mother, Hattie Ree Jones. After establishing her presence at the church, Jo felt called to become a part of its leadership. Throughout her membership at Jerusalem, Jo served as a Deaconness, Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, member of the Praise Team, President of the Golden Circle, and for many years, served as the Director of the Youth Church. Jo enjoyed praising God and singing with the True Life Inspirational Ensemble for 20 years under the direction of Arthur Barnes and the late Pastors George Dunwoody, and Lemmie Snell. Josephine touched many lives and loved children. She enjoyed bringing many children to and through her doors , feeding many, providing a public pool in her private environment with a smile, and as long as the children were having fun, she was happy. Her Father was Richard Jones (deceased), brother Nathaniel Jones (deceased–1971), and she was the oldest of her sisters; Annette Ball (Lewis Ball), Anna Louise Burnette (Bobby Burnette), Gloria Jean Smith (Delaney Smith), Darlene Jones, and Patricia Brown (Tony Brown). Josephine is survived by her Sisters In law and Brothers in law; Joe and Queen Williams, Shirley Williams (deceased), Marjorie Williams, Sandra Pryor, Esther Williams, David Williams (Joyce Williams), (Jeanie Nash remarried), and Gloria Williams; Nieces and Nephews, Dartanyan, Dante, Relena, Shelly, Gillette, Quiltel, Stacy Burnette (deceased), Bobby, Latricia, Travis, Tremayne, Ivy, Tiffany, Valerie, Tim, Eric, Trina, Joey, Mark, Angie, Amanda, Allee, Chris, Nathan, Justin, Josh, Kaylee, Kenny, Michael, Nathaniel and Patrice. Her best friend was Donna Jean Wells, and she also shared a close friendship with Joyce Jackson, Norma jean Morris, Sylvia "Tut" Pride, and Helen Thompson. She is also survived by a host of great nieces, nephews, friends, acquaintances, as well as a host of spiritual family members whom she loved tremendously. Josephine retired from the Timken Company after thirty years of dedicated service. She worked hard and played just as hard. She was a kind spirit, a bundle of joy, and yet accepted no nonsense. She loved and obeyed her husband and her pastors according to the word of God. She loved the Lord and will forever leave a lasting impression on our hearts.
