Joseph Edwin Woods "Joe, Joey" 68 passed away on November 25, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his sister and niece.
Joe was born on August 19, 1952 in Akron, Ohio to the union of the late Rudolph and Cora Woods. Joe attended Akron Public Schools until he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force where he completed his education.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served as a Fuels Specialist. His last duty assignment and major duty was a Bulk Plant Manager for 81st Supply Squad (USAFE). He was stationed in London, England for two years before returning back to the States. He received an Honorable Discharge after completing 5 years of service in 1976. He lived in Fremont and Oakland, California for 17 years where he was employed at the US Postal Service.
Joey continued out the remaining years of his life in Akron with family and friends. He worked various jobs until his health prevented him to do so. Joe was a jack of all trades. His many passions were playing cards, music, cooking, fishing, traveling, watching westerns and going to the Casino.
Joey never wanted to be dependent on anyone, but he was available for you no matter what it was. He was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back. His loving and giving spirit will be truly missed by family and friends.
Joey was preceded in death by brothers, James K. Brown, Charles A. Woods and Rudolph A. Woods Jr. and special friend Sondra Sanders.
To forever cherish his memory he leaves a very devoted sister/caretaker Denise C. Johnson; sons, Dierre (Adrian) Maddox and Joe (Melissa) Woods Jr. both of Akron, Grandchildren, Cherlynn, Malika, Makayla, Marshai, Tammy, Nate, Edwin and Daisha; Great Grand Child, Evan; Nieces, Chevelle Palmer of Tennessee, Angel White of Fort Valley, GA., Carla (Elton) Monday, Rudy (Mike), Recca all of Akron and Celeste Brown; Nephews, James Brown Jr, Ryan Woods both of Akron, James Brown I, James Brown II, James Brown III and Zack Brown; Uncles, Paul Loftin and Ted Loftun, both of Mississippi; best friends ,David Maxwell of California and Angelo Waters of Alaska and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
