Joseph Orlando Averiett Jr., age 53, entered eternal rest at his home on March 28, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a native of Akron, Ohio, born on November 4, 1970, to Joseph O. Averiett Sr. and Cynthia M Averiett. Joe's journey began in Akron, where he spent his formative years cultivating lasting relationships within his community.
From a young age, Joe demonstrated a strong faith and spiritual devotion. He accepted Christ early in life at the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Pastor Herbert Powell. This faith was a guiding light throughout his life, shaping his character and influencing his interactions with others.
Joe pursued his education through the Akron Public Schools, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and personal growth. His commitment to knowledge and self-improvement would become hallmarks of his character.
In his roles as father, son, grandfather, brother, and fiance, Joe brought love, joy, and strength to those around him. He leaves a cherished legacy through his children: daughters Morgan, Kaylea, and Autumn; sons Joseph III and Justin; and nine beloved grandchildren. Joe's devotion to his family was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his immediate family, Joe is survived by his sisters Monique and Juletta and brothers Jason and Joseph. He also leaves behind his fiance, Stacey Daugherty, who stood by his side as a devoted partner and companion, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, mothers of his children, Holly Jackson, and April Ford-Averiett.
Joe's memory will forever be treasured by his family and friends, who were touched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Joseph Orlando Averiett Jr. will be remembered as a loving father, devoted partner, and faithful friend. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those touched by his presence.
