John Robert Rhodes, Jr., age 69, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 9, 2013 after a brief illness.  John, better known as "Bobby" to his family and friends, was born on April 24, 1944 to the late John Rhodes Sr., and Bertha Lee Munford in Canton, Ohio.  John was the first of twelve children born to Bertha Lee Munford.  John was also raised by the late Daniel D. Munford, husband of Bertha Lee.  John was a graduate of McKinley High school.  After graduation, John enlisted into the United States Navy.  He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service.  He was also a foster parent for many years. John was very family oriented.  He loved his children, siblings, and his parents.  John was preceded in death by grandparents, Albert and Inez Stover; parents, John Rhodes, Sr., and Bertha Lee Munford; stepfather, Daniel D. Munford; sisters, Vantella Lee Herndon, Annie Phillips and Victoria Morton.  John leaves to mourn, Denise Rhodes of Anchorage, Alaska; daughters, Rhonda Rhodes of Texas, Roberta Rhodes of Georgia and Rashell Rhodes of Texas; one son, Zach Rhodes of Idaho; sisters, Margaret (Jesse) Anthony of Colorado, Carolyn Munford, Susan (Mark) Amison, Ingram Munford and Bertha (Orlando) Ortiz, all of Canton, OH, Daniel (Andria) Munford of Cleveland, OH, Chester (Lori) Munford and Cenell Clark of Columbus, OH; aunt, Ella Johnson of Cincinnati, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
