Obituary

John J. Mitchell , 83, went home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2021. He was born on September 13, 1937 to the late Clarence and Mary Mitchell in Springfield Township.  He was the third child born of seven children.

John graduated from Springfield High School in 1955.  He attended college studying courses in Psychology.  John worked various laborer jobs as a painter and building tires for cars and trucks when the Rubber Industry existed.  John enjoyed building crafts and coloring inspirational and motivational pictures which he placed in frames and initialed.  John loved going fishing especially with his sister Evangelist Elmira Mitchell and his favorite color was blue.  John was also known for his famous home-made Hamburgers and French Fries. John really enjoyed spending time with family and friends that made his day complete.

John, was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Mary Mitchell; brothers, Edward Mitchell, Norman Mitchell, Willie Gray, Elder Robert Lee Mitchell Sr., Lettie Mitchell (Mother of his Children), Niece Simone R. Mitchell and Cynthia Berry (Sister-in-law).

He will be deeply missed by his children, Anthony Gulley, Mylene and Angela Mitchell.  Grandchildren, Krystine Brown, Kailin Mitchell, Nyasia Glover, Anthony Johnson, Tanisha Sneed, Naomi Davis, Tru'Shun Sibley, Tiona Howard, Prince-Tyson Gulley, Toneo Gulley, ToNaya Gulley, Tre' Gulley, Taureen Spicer, Navia Gulley, Nadia Cuellas. 16 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grand Granchild, Cali Stephens. One sister, Evangelist Elmira Mitchell; One brother, Charles Gray.  Sister-in law, Lillie Gray.   Brother-in-laws,  Fred Gissendaner and Arthur Gissendaner.  Sister-in-laws Charlestine Gissendaner and Antionette (David) Id-Deen. Significant other Janice Faye Davis, Special Friends, Ola Robertson, Daranta Fuller, Anthony Robertson, Daniel Robertson, Faydra Robertson and Dansha Tapley. Best Friend James Lewis.  Special cousins including the Beaver, Lampley, Thomas, Marsh and Stiff Families and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
