Obituary

John Henry Dwayne Hawkins Sr., passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family and friends at his side.  On Sunday, May 26, 2013, our Heavenly Father sent down one of His angels to escort home, His son, John H.D. Hawkins, Sr.  He lived a good life and was called home at the tender age of 60.  John was born July 11, 1952 to Henry and Delores Hawkins of Alliance, OH.  He attended Alliance City Schools.  He accepted Christ at an early age and lived most of his life in Alliance, OH. At the age of 20 he moved to Canton, OH, making it his home.  He retired after 35.5 years from Quality Castings in Orrville, OH.  On February 19, 1977, he married Louella Newell.  Together they were blessed with 12 children: nine (9) sons three (3) daughters.  He was affectionately  known as "Hawk - The Blues Man" and was known to do his "Rooster Call".  He loved blowing his harmonica while playing his Gospels and Blues; he also enjoyed fishing and being with family and friends.  John was preceded in death by his parents; son, David L. Newell Hawkins and brother, Joseph F. Brown.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Louella Hawkins; eight (8) sons and three (3) daughters: John H. D. Hawkins, Jr., John (Tiffany) Newell of South Dakota, Jimmy Newell, Debra Newell, Judy (Curtis) Richardson, Donnell Hawkins, Dena Hawkins, Steve Hawkins, Sr., Jerome Hawkins, Derict (Markeisha) Hawkins, Dominique Hawkins of Canton, OH; siblings, Louise Collins of Tuscon, AZ, Cynthia Preston, Brenda Hawkins both of Canton, OH, Matthew Brown of Covington, KY; twenty eight (28) grandchildren, nine (9) great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Robert Robinson, Eddie Lee (Ramona) Newell all of Canton, OH; sisters-in-law, Ruby Mae (O'Dell) Marshall of Chicago, IL, Shirley and Emma Walls both of Jackson, MS; special cousin, Darrell Hawkins who was like a brother; special friend, Tony Ridgeway of Akron, OH; special aunt in law, Margaret Henderson of Georgia; special uncle in law, Reverend Lewis (Ruby) Jenkins; special nieces, Sandra (Larry) Bell and Vina Oliver; special friends, Vicki Jones, George Halloway, all of Canton, OH; and a host of other nieces, nephews family and friends.
