Obituary

John H. Bibby was born in Harrisburg, PA to Robert and Beulah Bibby on April 4, 1930.

John enlisted in the United States military at the age of 17 where he started his career in Cleveland, Ohio on August 13, 1947.  He was honored to serve in the Air Force for over 21 years.  During his time in the military, he served in many places such as Georgia, Texas, California, Okinawa, Korea, Alaska, and Thailand. His jobs included being a postal specialist, administrative supervisor, and a training instructor. He took pride in each position he held, and it showed by the number of award and medals he received.  John was the recipient of the Korean Service medal with two bronze stars, Distinguished Unit citation (D.U.C.), United Nations Service medal, National Defense Service medal (N.D.S.M.), Japan Occupation medal, Air Force Longevity Service award, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal.  John continued his service by working with the United States Postal Service where he retired after 37 years.

On December 16, 2006, John married Mildred.  They lived between Akron, Ohio and Casa Grande, AZ.  On February 16, 2017, they permanently moved to Casa Grande, AZ, where they united with New Hope Baptist Church under Pastor Terry L. Harris.

The proudest moment in John's life was giving his beautiful daughter, Nina, away on her wedding day.  John also cherished the time he spent with his grandsons Bruce III and Brandon.

John is preceded in death by parents Robert and Beulah Bibby; brothers, Bob, Alexander, Robert, Myrl; sisters, Clarine and Artiss.  He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Mildred; his brother, Charles (Ruby) Bibby of Akron, OH; daughter Nina (Bruce II) Palmore of California; brother-in-law, Rev. Howard (Beverly) Owens and Rev. Melvin Owens; sister-in-law, Shirley Matthews, all of Akron, OH, grandson Bruce III and special grandson Brandon Palmore, special great niece Clair Bibby-Thatch, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
