John H. Barnes, departed this life to join the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the age of 61. John was born on November 7, 1954 in Canton, Ohio to the late  Louis and Effie (Herring) Barnes.

John has lived in an institutional setting since the age of seven. In 1961, he went to live at Columbus State School and then to Gallipolis Developmental Center. In September of 1979, he moved to Sandusky Nursing Home. In August of 1988, John went to live at Wyant Woods Care Center followed by Molly Stark Hospital. In 1995, John moved into his home on David Street in Canton, Ohio where he met his best friend and guardian Gloria Wilson. He enjoyed one on one attention, outings into the community, and music. John was very affectionate and loved having his head massaged. To know him is to love him and he will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Beulah Foster. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his best friend/ guardian, Gloria Wilson; dear friend, Dorothy Johnson; siblings, Jannett Barnes Powell, Georgia Herring, Harold Barnes, Mary Barnes, and Louis Barnes.
