Joanne (Maske) Steele departed this life on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. She was born on August 16, 1938 in Malvern,Ohio to the late John and Florence (Dowdy) Maske. After relocating to Canton Ohio, she married Jesse Steele December of 1984 in which they were married for 38 years prior to his passing in November 2019.

She spent many years working and retired from Indian River Juvenile Detention Center. She loved spending time with her family, fashion, cooking, playing cards and watching her favorite television shows. Family was everything to her and in her heart she cherished everyone. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, just to see the children happy, family gathering and making memories. She had a great personality and a big sense of humor, she always loved joking and every child had a nickname.

Joanne is preceded in death by her husband; Jesse Steele; parents; John and Florence Maske, sisters; Hazel (Maske)Harris, Edna(Maske)Harris, Jean (Maske)Crisp, brothers; Bobby Maske, Thomas Maske, sister in law; Mary Steele.

She is survived by her one and only loving son Keith Lewis Maske of Massillon, Ohio, stepsons; Tony Newman and Dwayne Frazier, granddaughter; Latoya Maske of Columbus Ohio, grandsons; Keith Maske II and Kevin Maske of Canton Ohio, special great-grandson; Javontae Maske, great-grandaughter, Latyra Thompson and many other great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, siblings; Nelva(Maske) Blair, John Maske II, Charles Maske, Donald (Eloise)Maske; sister in laws, Carolyn Groce, Gloria Steele; brother in law, Robert Steele and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she adored.
