Joanie Lynalyson (Hamilton) McGowan affectionately known as +JoJo, departed this life on December 27, 2021, at Summa Health - Akron surrounded by her family. She was born on January 3, 1960 in Athens, Georgia to the late Robert Hamilton and Billie Jean Williams.

Her infectious personality and love for life made it easy for her to meet people and create  bonds that turned into long standing friendships and she was always willing to extend a helping hand. JoJo was family oriented, strong, independent, and highly opinionated. Her interests were broad, from caretaking and fashion to interior design. JoJo was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, special granddaughter, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be sadly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Melverne E. Greene and Alberta Greene: uncles William Byrd and George Thomas, and grandson Marquis D. Hamilton.

She leaves to mourn her memory: husband Chaderra McGowan of Akron, Ohio; (3) daughters, Anoka Johnson of Miami, Florida, Fachon (Gary) Binns of Orlando, Florida, and Jammie Hamilton of Akron, Ohio; (3) sons, Gregory Heard of Rochester, New York, Sylvester Hamilton and Elijah Butler both of Akron, Ohio; uncle, Mclord Greene of Youngstown, Ohio; (5)sisters, Carmen Wingo and Detra (John) Thomas both of Akron, Ohio, Dejuana Waters-Herald of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Lawanda Revere of Decatur, Georgia and Ruth (Sam) Hamilton-Wilson of San Diego, California; (2) brothers, Linnell Hamilton of Youngstown, Ohio and Steven Hamilton of San Diego, California; (11) grandchildren, Shekeala Hamilton, Jamarcus Fields, Ricky Grant, Iman Grant, Deavieir Grant, Aychja Hamilton, Nehemiah Johnson, Kani Binns, Kyrie Binns, Nehemiah Hamilton, and Elijah Butler Jr.; (6) great grandchildren, Malachi Malcom, Tre'Mon Staggers, Paislee Grant, Rylo Grant, Serenity Fields,  and Princeton Grant; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
