Jesse Clark,
Jr.
January 20, 1945 – April 13, 2020
Mr. Jesse Clark Jr., started life in Jackson County, Arkansas in the city of Shoffner on a late Saturday afternoon on the twentieth day of January in 1945. He was the second son and third child born to the late Cleopatra and Jesse Halcome Clark Sr.
In 1957, the Clark family left from the deep depression of the south to the high promises of the north. They made their home in Canton, Ohio. Over the years, the family grew in love and faith making their church home Bethel Apostolic Church, where they were active members. Often, Jesse Jr. attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with his special cousin Myron Clark. It was at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church that Jesse Jr. sang in the choir as a young child through his early teenage to young adult years. His singing voice and talent would be showcased in a band he put together that would travel throughout the Midwest during the 60's and 70's. Jesse's band was even highlighted by popular demand and performed on the Jean Carroll show and by special request and private invitation sung at the Governor's Ball in the 1960's.
Jesse Jr. united with his lovely wife Linda J. McElroy in holy matrimony on December 20, 1967.
He peacefully departed this life on Monday, April 13, 2020 in the comfort and care of St. Joseph Senior Living Center.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Angel Clark; infant brother, Calvin Jay Clark; and brother Robert Lee Clark.
His beautiful life and legacy will forever be cherished in the lives of his loving wife: Linda J. Clark of Canton, Ohio; children, Jesse (Twuanita) Thompson of Akron, OH, Tammi Terrell (Jonathan) Swint of Canton, OH, Stephanie Regina Clark of Pearland, TX, Etta Jane Thompson of Akron, OH, and Calvin Jay (Fontaine) Clark of Cleveland, OH; siblings, Betty Jean Clark (OH), Rosemary Clark (OH), Marie Clark-Morton (OH), Stella Louise Griggs (CA), Marvin Louis Clark (OH), Mildred Clark (OH), Shirley Ann Clark (OH), and the twins Marilyn Robinson (OH), and Carolyn Clark (OH); (6) grandchildren; very close friends, Pastor John McIntyre, Pastor Ray Cox, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and loving friends.
