Obituary

Jerome Lockett , 91, earned his wings and transitioned to glory on Thursday; January 21, 2021 in Akron, Ohio.  He was born on October 27, 1929 in Albany, Georgia to the late Reverend Bennie and Lula Lockett, Sr.

Jerome was a God-fearing man and accepted Christ at an early age.  Jerome migrated from Albany and moved to Detroit, Michigan for employment in the automobile industry.  Jerome ultimately moved to Akron, Ohio where he worked and retired at the age of fifty (50) from Chrysler Stamping Plant in Twinsburg, Ohio.

In the wake of migrating to Akron, Ohio, Jerome met the love of his life — Ella Mae Winn. At the time of his passing, they had been married for 61 years. To their union, they raised five daughters. Jerome was a faithful member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and served on the Trustee Board, Deacon Board and was a Sunday School teacher. Many people enjoyed his teaching of the bible. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter (Keisha Short); 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Jerome leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Ella; daughters, Sharon Robinson, Le Ann (Frank) Lane, Becky Short, Jan (Dave) Austin, Janet Lockett, eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; Four brothers, John (Annie) Lockett, James Lockett, Harold Lockett,  Bennie (Beatrice) Lockett, Jr.;  Four sisters, Bennie Lee Harris, Helen Thompson,  Eddie Maude Oliver,  Lula (Robert) Montgomery and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Our loving husband, father, brother, uncle, granddad and friend will be deeply missed.  We will always cherish the beautiful memories, his laughter, his humor, his smile, his generosity and most of all his prominent traits:  FAITH & LOVE.
