James Edward Mosley's Obituary

James Edward "Fella" Mosley, 74 of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on October 17, 1951, he was the son of Lucy Mosley and Johnnie Shellman. A 1971 graduate of South High School, James found his calling in the nursing field and worked for 22 years at Middlebury Nursing Home, where he was         admired for his kindness, integrity, and strong work ethic.

James loved old-school R & B and gospel music. A gifted singer and    director, he served as choir director at Bethel Baptist Church, led the    Akron Community Choir, and sang with the Akron Symphony. Later, he became a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church-so committed that he threatened to leave Arbors Nursing Facility if they did not find a way for him to continue going there. Eventually, transportation was arranged allowing him to attend services at New Hope whenever possible.

Though he never married, James cherished his family, especially his  nieces and nephews, whom he treated like his own children. He was known for his warmth, humor, sharp sense of style, and his motto: " Treat people how you'd want to be treated".  His favorite song was    "Oh, How I Love Jesus".

He had a wonderful sense of style and was admired for his sharp suits and love of fashion. At the nursing home, he happily delivered newspapers to fellow residents, always sharing a laugh or a word of encouragement along the way. James had a warm personality and a great sense of humor.

James loved to eat. He enjoyed cooking-especially fried chicken and   collard greens-traveling, singing, and cheering for the Cleveland Cavaliers and his favorite player, LeBron James. He was also a proud Mason.

Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Janice Mosley, Ernest Mosley, Paul Cardwell and niece, Sheba Mosley.

James is survived by nieces, Jacinda and Stefani Mosley, Tiakisha Green; nephews, Steven and Ronnie Mosley; great-nephews, Deairre, Corey, and Deonbra Mosley; dedicated cousin, Corine Ricks; special friends, Ricky Brock and Jacky Chaney, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
