James Arthur Moore went on to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 7, 2023. He was born on October 14, 1945 to Will. and Lula Mae Moore in Wetumpka, AL and received Christ at an early age. He was a long-time member of Zion Temple Missionary Baptist Church. He attended East High School until 1964 then joined the Marine Corps. He won a marble shooting championship in grade school and was an avid ice skater and hockey player as a teenager. He was an excellent hunter and fisherman which he enjoyed until his passing and could disassemble a gun and put it back together in a matter of minutes. He was an excellent marksman. He immensely enjoyed bowling, gardening, singing with Voices of Praise and tending to his pet birds and hunting beagles. Very often would you catch him without his hat with his signature of wearing it cocked to the side. He enlisted in the Marine Corp as a teenager and fought in Vietnam and was severely injured when he was struck by mortar shells. After being hospitalized for more than a year, by the grace of God he made it home as the only survivor of his platoon and was awarded the prestigious Purple Heart for his service. He was a mentor to many young men and was implemental in showing them how to hunt and fish. He was also an excellent father to Loveece Moore, Vincent Keith Daniels and Davetta (Dimples) Telford. Every household should have a Dit in it. James met and married the love of his life Betty Ann Moore and was married over 40 years He is preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Ann Moore, parents Willie A. and Lula Mae Moore, son Eric Moore, brothers Willie A. Moore Jr. and Johnny Lee Moore and his sister Lobelia Moore. He leaves to mourn his passing, children Loveece Moore, Vincent Keith Daniels and Davetta (Dimples) Telford sisters Betty (Christopher) Barron, Tucson, AZ; Ophelia Moore-Banks (Willie-Wham), Toledo, OH; Murdise Moore, Manhattan, NY; Janet Moore, Akron, OH; Versie (Alex) Watts, Akron, OH; Gloria Moore Mason (James) Akron, OH; and little brother Gary Moore, Akron, OH, grandchildren Tiara (Seante), Sayvon(Paige), Sydney, Xavier, Olivia and great daughter Atlas, and a host of family and close friends.
