James (Travis) Love Sr. was born on March 24, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Andrew and Dora Mae (Miles) Love. He attended the Atlanta Public School System and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School where he excelled in football and track. In track he excelled setting records in the state of Georgia. In football he earned a scholarship to college. His favorite school course was math where he excelled also. Travis was a resident of Akron, Ohio for 58 years. He was loved by his family and relatives and friends. He did not meet a stranger. He was a hardworking man. He did not like to sit around he had to be busy. His hobbies included gardening, painting and watching all sport games. In 2012 he received the keep Akron Beautiful Watch Award. He was a great Father and he will be greatly missed by his family and by all who knew him. He was employed at General Tire & Rubber Company, H. Muehlstein & Company, B&C and JR Wheel and the Akron Police Dept. as a school cross guard on the corner of Moon Street and Vernon Odom Blvd. this was his favorite job, crossing the school children he took his job very seriously. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tracie Love; sister, Rosa Lee Allen and brothers, William and Leroy Love. He is survived by wife, Josephine Love; son, James T (Andrea) Love Jr. of Elyria, OH; daughters, Donna (Billy) Varner of Akron, Ohio, Pamela Love and Deborah Love Sparks of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brother, Charlie Frank Love of College Park, Georgia; four aunts, Guiddie Parker, Ann Miles of Akron, Ohio, Pearlie Brazil and Martha Ward of Georgia; several nieces, nephews, cousins other loving relatives and friends.
