James Williams,
Jr.
November 9, 1950 – July 7, 2023
Our beloved brother, James Williams Jr. flew his wings to be in the open arms of our Lord on July 7, 2023, at Cleveland Clinic Hospice with family members by his bedside after a lengthy illness. James Williams Jr. of Akron, Ohio was born on November 9, 1950, to the late Labinus and James Williams Sr.
James is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Janet Hatchet-Williams, son; Jacob Williams, sisters; Cleopatra Williams-Miller-Hill and Helen Marie Williams-Atkins; brother, Timothy K. Williams and niece, Carol Ann Miller.
James later married Michelle McClintock-Williams and to that union one child was born, Jonathan. During this marriage, James worked several years at IBM and Computer Network in Independence, Ohio. Years later, he met and married Cynthia (Cindy) Williams and to that union Jacob and Shayla were born.
James graduated from South High School in 1968 and attended The University of Akron. He later joined the United States Navy and spent six years traveling on the carrier and throughout the country. He served three years in Active Reserve Duty. After moving back to Akron, Ohio, two years later he moved to Texas where he attended Electric Training School and secured a position as Property Manager for six years.
James was a Jack of All Trades using his training to repair roofs, plumbing, painting, furnaces, and electrical work in the community. He loved and cherished life to the fullest with his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking, singing and spending time helping others in any way he could. James was incredibly generous with his time and resources and didn't mind sharing his experience among others.
In addition, he also loved visiting with his family when he could rather it was a picnic or at their home. His favorite holiday was Memorial Day with family and friends. His favorite activities were football, baseball, basketball, tennis, singing in the church choir. James was an avid sports watcher when it came to the Cavilers, Cleveland Indians and other teams…You couldn't beat James on his sports games!
James loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. L. Dykes. He was committed to Christ and later he joined Good Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Laverne Merryweather.
James was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Janet Hatchet-Williams, son; Jacob Williams, sisters; Cleopatra Williams-Miller-Hill and Helen Marie Williams-Atkins, brother; Timothy Williams and niece; Carol Ann Miller
He leaves to mourn his life, wife; Cynthia (Cindy) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He will truly be missed by his beloved family and he leaves his sisters, Pauletta (Eddie) Bowen and Sandra A. Williams (whose passed away 8 days later) of Akron, Ohio; brothers, Lloyd (Cheryl) Williams and Van (Regina) Williams of Cleveland, Ohio; children, James (J.W.) lll of Columbus, Georgia, Josh Davis and Jonathan Williams of California and Shayla Wiliams of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; favorite aunt, Elizabeth Caldwell of Akorn, Ohio; grandchildren, Jahmi Williams of Akron, Ohio , Ayviauna, Janet and Jadyn Williams of Columbus, Georgia; nieces, Crystal (Raymond) Carter, Ravyn Carter, Traci (Bernard) Eaton, LaKisa Zanders of Akron, Ohio, Detria Giddings, Dionne Dennison of Cleveland, Ohio and Nicole Williams of Columbus, Ohio, nephews, Isaiah Carter, Gamaliel Williams, Phillip (Angelina) Heard of Akron, Ohio, Eddie B. Bowen, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, T. Cedric (Debbie) Williams, Xavier (Alexis) Williams, Lloyd and Alexander Williams of Akron, Ohio and Brandon Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, special friends, Paul (Ricky) Greer, Sr., Codall Greer, Paul Greer Jr., Lloyd, Larry and Lenny Strickland, Monroe Evans and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davis of Florida.
