In Loving Memory of James Roy Bickley Jr.
James Roy Bickley Jr., 61, of Akron, Ohio, peacefully departed this life on July 15, 2026.
James was born on August 6, 1964, in Akron, Ohio, to the late James Roy Bickley Sr. and Mary Ann Bickley. After graduating from East High School, James answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. After completing his military service, he returned home to Akron and fell in love with the game of softball. James successfully coached the Playmates Ladies Softball Team, leading them to many championships. In addition, he played with and coached the Cool Cats Men Softball Team, who also won many championships. He later retired from Stan's Towing after many years of dedicated service as a master mechanic. James found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who enjoyed fishing and listening to music.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Roy Bickley Sr. and Mary Ann Bickley; his brother, Roy Pruitt; and his beloved grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Vicki Bickley; daughters, Shanique Moore; Alicia Smith, Vanetra Smith; son, Taron Montgomery; his special granddaughter, LeAuni Montgomery; his siblings, Pam and Sunny Whitehurst, Gloria Rogers, Roy (Michelle) Dorman, Malita Sherfield, Dee Caffey, Rosalyn Bickley-McDonald, Sherry White, Mercedes White, Michael (Kia) Bickley Sr., Jeff Miller, Nate (Ikel Willis), Mark Jeffrey Bickley Sr., Alfredia (Early) Ivey, and Shoskamika Risper; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his friendship.
James will be remembered for the love of family. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
