Jackquelin Craig
"Jackie"
April 9, 1968 – October 9, 2024
Jackquelin "Jackie" Craig was born on April 9, 1968, in Dallas County, Alabama. As a young child, she relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, with her parents, Wilma and Robert Craig Sr., and her older siblings, Robert Jr., Linda, and Kathy.
Raised in a loving, Christian home, Jackie accepted Christ and was baptized at New Light Baptist Church in Cleveland. She attended John F. Kennedy High School, where she was a member of the Class of 1986. Jackie worked for many years in customer service and retail. Her fun-loving personality and infectious laugh brought joy to all, and Jackie cherished every moment spent with her family.
In God's infinite wisdom, Jackie was blessed with the opportunity to raise and nurture two wonderful children as her own: Tehranae Scovil and Miles Simmons. A few years later, God blessed her and Nate Ruffin with their biological son, Brandon Ruffin. Jackie's heart & home was always open to love, and five years ago, she welcomed Ra'Myah Robinson, who lovingly called her "Grandma."
Jackie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and bravely lived to tell the story of her victory as a survivor. In 2023, lung cancer afflicted her body, but she fought with strength and courage until achieving remission. However, in January 2024, the cancer returned, this time affecting her brain. Despite the best medical treatments, countless prayers, and her unyielding will to live, Jackie gave her all in this final battle.
Jackie peacefully transitioned on Wednesday morning, October 9, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Craig Sr. and honorary son, Miles "MJ" Simmons.
Jackie is survived by her loving son, Brandon Ruffin, and her honorary daughter & grandchildren, Tehranae Scovil, Ra'Myah, Ava, Melody, Aviya & Ra'Veyah.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Jackie leaves behind her mother, Wilma, of Atlanta, Georgia; her brothers, Robert Jr. (Allison) of Beachwood, Ohio, Bobby (Kimberly) of Richmond, Virginia, Towanger (Tracy) and Rodney, both of Alabama; and her sisters, Linda, of Akron, Ohio, Kathy and Theresa, both of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sandra (Theo), Annie (Jessie), Pamela, and Carolyn, all of Alabama. She also leaves behind a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jackie wanted to acknowledge and express her gratitude to Nate and Tiah Ruffin for their love and support. She also asked that her family remembers to forgive each other quickly and love one another unconditionally.
Jackie's personal message to all: "If you have never smoked a cigarette, don't start. If you do smoke, seek help to quit."
Jackie will always be remembered for her unwavering love and nurturing heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever live on in her children and in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
