Hershel L. Haines departed this life on April 17, 2021.  He was born on December 4, 1948 in Akron, OH to the late Hattie and Herbert Haines, Sr..

Hershel attended Akron Public Schools graduating from East High School.  He served in the US Army with an honorable discharge and was employed by and retired from the Akron Beacon Journal.

Hershel loved fishing, gardening, playing cards and traveling.  He enjoyed cooking and inviting over his children and grandchildren for dinner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts and uncles and infant brother, Idus.

Hershel leaves to cherish his memories children, LaShan, Shellery, Damon (Latoria) Haines, LaToya (Welsey) Poulson and bonus son Jermel Bell; grandchildren, Loral Hawthorne III, Janea, Demarre Hubbard, ShaNea Haines, Brandon Trevillion, Daylin, Daysha Haines, DeAirre Haines and Taliyah Poulson; great-grandchildren, Khloe Cook, Brooklyn, Zollah Hawthorne and Ava Haines; brothers, Herbert Jr, Harvey (Wanda), and Harry; sister Barbara (Simmie) Thurman; mother of his children Joyce Haines; aunt, Maxine Tompkins; best friends, Lawrence Shuler and Sam Pryer and beloved dog Jake; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
