With heavy hearts and cherished memories, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hattie Christine Walton, who departed this life on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Hattie was born in Rome, Georgia on May 25, 1938, but was a lifelong resident of Copley, Ohio. Her life was characterized by warmth, kindness, and an enduring love for her family and friends.  Hattie's devotion to her family was mirrored in her professional life, where she spent many years as a caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Jesse Walton Jr., her parents Margaret and Earnest Wheeler, stepmother Florence Wheeler, brothers Troy Wheeler and Lamont Street, and daughter Gwendolyn Wheeler.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her sons David and Larry Wheeler, Jesse (Starla) Walton III, all of Akron, and Robert (Yvonne) Richardson of Iowa. Her daughters, Sharon and Patricia Wheeler, both of Akron.  Brothers Kenneth and Kevin Porter, along with her sisters Paulette Wells and Traci (John) Sheppard, all of Akron.

A treasured grandmother known as "Nanny".  Hattie's joy was enriched by her 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought happiness and pride into her life. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who were touched by her generous spirit and loving nature.

Hattie will be deeply missed but will forever be remembered for her loving heart and giving spirit. She leaves behind memories that will continue to guide and inspire all who know her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she shared so freely and the kindness she showed to all.
