Hattie Lee Cunningham went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2021. She was born in Thomasville, Alabama on August 16, 1930 to the late Lemar and Laura Autery. She attended Selma University and moved to Akron in 1954 with her husband, Cecil Cunningham.
Hattie worked for the Board of Education as a paraprofessional for 24 years and as a home Health Aide with Visiting Nurse Service for 13 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for 57 years where she taught Sunday School and Children's Church and served as a Deaconess. She later became a member of Arlington Church of God.
Hattie was preceded in death by husband, Cecil, son, Eric, brothers: John, Willie Clyde, Ernest, and Lemar Autery Jr, and sister Lela Brown. She is survived by children: Gabriella Haslam, Llona Forney, Gavin (Deborah), Philip (Cora) (Suwanee, GA) and Alvin Cunningham. She is survived by siblings, Gwen (Ernest) Crossley (Omaha, NE) and James (Mary) Aurtrey (Indianapolis, IN) and sister-in-law Mary Autery (Birmingham, AL). She is also survived by 16 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great-Great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
