Hattie Mae Haines (Coker) 91, enter the gates of heaven on July 16, 2013. She was born January 6, 1921 in Greenville, SC to the late Leo and Hartez Coker.
Hattie attended Akron Public Schools where she graduated from East High School. She met and married the love of her life Herbert Haines, Sr. on November 25, 1942. They were married for 70 years. She worked at Polkeys and was an avid bowler. Hattie was a member of Greater Bethel Baptist Church for many years where she sang in the choir. She later joined St. Paul Baptist Church where she was a member until her death. She was a dedicated housewife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Hattie was a member of Phoenix Chapter O.E.S. #96. Her favorite saying was "God Loves You And So Do I".
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Herbert Haines Sr.; infant son, Idus; brothers, Leroy, Clarence, Jimmy and Haywood Cooker.
Hattie leaves to cherish her memory, her four sons, Herbert Jr., Hershel, Harvey (Wanda) and Harry (Linda); one daughter, Barbara (Simmie) Thurman; sister, Maxine Tompkins; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; dedicated caregivers, her grand daughters, Katika, Moniqua and Shelley along with family friends, Janice Rackley, Jacque Parks, Jackie Chaney, Debbie Respress and Michelle Hensley.
