Our beloved sister Gwen Thomas went Home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2024. She was born on May 29, 1956, in Akron, Ohio to Mr. Floyd Edwards and Bernestine Edwards. She attended Akron Public Schools, Margaret Park, Thornton Junior High School, and graduated from South High in 1975.

She married Keith Thomas in 1980 and to this union she had one son, Keith Jr. She worked at Akron City Hospital for 10 years and also at the Haven of Rest from June 24, 2001, until January 14, 2019.

Gwen was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Williams Edwards; mother, Bernestine Edwards; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Gwen leaves to cherish her memory, son, Keith Thomas, Jr. (DeAnna); sisters, Jacqueline Edwards-McKnight and Robin Edwards; brother, Eric Edwards; grandchildren, Kaeland and Kenyon Thomas, Dajahnae Wells, Avery Thomas, and Evan, Ian and Aiden Thomas; two great grandchildren, Sh'Khai and I'miere Thomas; special cousin, Yvonne Mitchell; best friends, Jackie Hood and Diane Jackson-Cummings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Our entire family agrees that Gwen's determination, wisdom and loving nature will always be remembered and celebrated!
