Johnson

Obituary

Gwendolyn Johnson, 74, passed away November 4th, 2022. Born May 5th, 1948, in Akron, Ohio, Gwendolyn was the second child of LaCorinia and Robert                          (Bob) Prince. She grew up and spent her lifetime in the city of Akron. She was a mother to three children of her own Michelle Prince, April Johnson and                              Rachel Cargle, nee Brooks. Gwendolyn also mothered Myriah Mitchell, her great niece and was a dedicated grandmother to Cordon Harris and Ariana                                Rhoden.

Gwen showed tremendous strength all her life; a survivor of polio as a young girl and a relentless fighter against various bouts of cancer in her adulthood --                      she always stood strong with  an unshakable faith and humor. She spent much of her lifetime cultivating the love of reading in the children                                                    around her. She was an avid scrapbooker, a visual artist who enjoyed replicating scenes from her beloved Ohio landscape. When she had the time, and the                        space, she was a gardener; enjoyed time doing jigsaw puzzles and she loved to see the hummingbirds who came daily to the feeder she kept outside her                          window.
Gwen is preceded in death by her father, Robert (Bob) Prince, her siblings Karen Stephenson, and Robert Prince. She is survived by her mother LaCorinia                         Prince, siblings, Anthony (Tony) Prince, Victor Prince and Cheryl Hood; her three daughters, April Johnson, Michelle Prince and Rachel Cargle (nee Brooks);                     and her grandchildren, Schuyler Green, Marcus Green, Cordon Harris and Ariana Rhoden.
