Gregory A. Calhoun, 62, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2020. He was born on September 21, 1957 in Akron, Ohio to the late Leroy and Betty Calhoun. He graduated from East High School in 1976. He also attended the University of Akron for a short time then he received a position with GenCorp, later changing its name to Omnova Solutions. Gregory was employed at Omnova Solutions for 25 years as a polymer manufacturing technician. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed traveling, attending plays and concerts and reading books about African American History and science.

Gregory is preceded in death by both of his parents, and one brother, Leroy Calhoun, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his ex-wife, Harriet Calhoun; son, Jason (Tawana) Calhoun; daughter, LaShanna Calhoun; siblings, Al Calhoun, Sandra Calhoun, and Clarence Calhoun; nieces, Tamaria Calhoun and Lakeeta; nephew, Michael Calhoun; grandsons, RayShaun Craig, Jason Calhoun, Jr., Jackson Calhoun, Kylan Calhoun, and Caleb Miller; and a host of other relatives and friends. Homegoing celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 3:30 P.M. at Rhoden Memorial Home, 1101 Palmetto Ave. Akron, Ohio 44306 where family will receive friends from 2:30 P.M. until time of service.
