GILBERT STIGGERS SR.

Gilbert George Stiggers Sr., 75, passed on November 27, 2023. He was born September 29, 1948, to his parents Horace and Gladys Stiggers in Akron, Ohio. Gilbert graduated from North High School. He served in the Marine Corps after high school, he was a Vietnam War Veteran with a multitude of medals including the Purple Heart. He ended his military career in Albany, Georgia in 1978. Gilbert started at Proctor and Gamble (P&G) in 1978 and retired in 1994. He was a Forklift Operator.

He came to know the Lord at an early age. He was an artist and loved to sketch, paint and sculpting. He loved the Lord that was his other passion.

Preceded in death by parents, Horace and Gladys Stiggers; great-grandmother, Mattie Stiggers; youngest son, Gilbert George Stiggers Jr.; sisters, Patrice Hunt, Minister Selsee Dancy, and Evangelist Sandra (Wilford Jr.) Clark; nephews, Wilford (Randy) Clark III, Jimmie, Jr. Lee Dancy, Darren Dancy and niece, Crystal Clark.

He leaves to cherish his memory son, Derrick Stiggers; grandsons, Altravius Crittenden and Javon Agurs; granddaughters, Akaia Stiggers and Aryienna Tarver; uncle, Harry Stiggers; nieces, Julie Hunt, Tammi (Dwayne) Hawkins, Patrice (Que) Caldwell, and Mercita Clark; nephews, Michael Hunt, David Dancy, Steve (Ann) Clark, and Bilford Clark; ex-wife, Eugenia Weston; stepdaughter, Tunnizia Weston, and a host of family and friends.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 11:00 am until 11:30 am at Rhoden Memorial Home, 11101 Palmetto Ave., Akron, OH 44306. Funeral service will immediately follow. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, OH.
