Gerard Darnell Simpson , 61, went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2021 after a long illness.

Gerard was born March 18, 1960, third son of Augustus and Ella Mae Simpson.  As a child he was raised to love the Lord and accepted Christ at a young age.  He was a gradated from Buchtel High School, class of 1978.  After graduation, he enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corp.

Throughout his life he had several jobs as a carpenter and was an avid Cleveland Browns  fan and a game wouldn't go by without him watching it. He was also passionate about fishing, DJing and loved all types of music.

Gerard was  preceded in death by his loving mother, Ella Mae Simpson; brothers, Harold and Duwarn Simpson and sister-in-law, Donna Simpson.

He leaves to forever cherish his memory, son, Gerard Simpson, Jr. of Akron, OH; daughter, Jermia Jones of Alabama; father, Augustus ('Gus') Simpson; brother, Kevin (Gwen) Simpson of Akron, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Jerry Walker, Mark Tolliver, Juan May and Olin Smith, Jr.
