On September 22, 2013 the gates of heaven opened to receive Georgia Lee Gay. She began her earthly journey on June 9, 1938. She had a God-given gift that allowed her to effortlessly transpose words and phrases into beautiful poems, stories and songs. Georgia worked for many years as an Insurance Broker for the McCutchen Insurance Agency while also proudly serving as a founding member of Allied Poets and Writers Guild and a member of Bondage Breakers.
Those awaiting Georgia's arrival in glory include her parents, George and Rosa Lee, Brother George (Georgie) and son, Sean Stanford. Her memory will be cherished by brothers Rev. Anthony R Gay Sr. (Diane) of Dalton, Illinois and Carlos Gay (Cheryl) of Delaware; sisters Debra Boyd and Adrian Murrary (Tyrone) both of Pennsylvania, Sandra J. Horton of Akron, Ohio and Naomi Turman (Benjamin) of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law Jean Gay of North Carolina; granddaughter, Sherae Stanford of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all whom she loved dearly. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at The Arbors of Fairlawn Nursing Facility for the exceptional care provided to Georgia during her time there.
