George Willock's Obituary

George Willock was born October 26, 1936 on the Island of Montserrat to Elizabeth Scarrett and departed this life April 1, 2025 at The Pine Nursing Home. At a young age, George's mother moved her family to the Island of Antigua in pursuit of a better life for her and her children.

George was the oldest son of 5 children and became the father figure to the family. He began working at the age of 14 to earn money for his family; he worked various jobs in construction, as a laborer and even baking.  George and his brothers were known for their baking skills, and he loved making titi bread, coconut tarts (rocks), and bread pudding. In addition to his love for baking, George played "wayway" and was an excellent swimmer.

George, his wife (Ruthlyn) and their children moved to the United States Virgin Islands in 1976, he continued to work in his trade while in the Virgin Islands for over 25 years. He was known as the fastest steel rebar tying worker on the Island, working on elementary schools and major buildings on the Island.

George and Ruthlyn built their family home by hand three (3) times because the home was destroyed two (2) times during a hurricane.

In 2023, George and Ruthlyn, moved to Canton, Ohio with their son and daughter-in-law (Benson & Catherine) when their health began to fail.

George was preceded in death by his mother; four (4) siblings; and his wife of 54 years, Ruthlyn Willock. George lived 88 years of life on this earth and he was blessed with 9 children, who will forever cherish his memory; Claudette Willock of New York, Geraldine Willock of St. Croix, Samuel (Jennifer) Willock of Antigua,  Patricia Willock of Antigua, Benson (Catherine) Willock of Canton, Ohio, Dianne Willock of Antigua, George (Michele) Willock Jr. of St. Croix,  Suesette White of Akron, Ohio, and Marvin Willock of Bath, Ohio; 34 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the Islands, United States and England.

George was very outspoken and never failed to say what was on his mind, sometimes without using a filter. Although he was outspoken, he was always thoughtful, kind and loving. His favorite saying was "Eat, Drink and Be Merry," especially when it came to eating ice cream, which was his favorite thing to eat.
